This cart had been used for years as a plant stand, and its plywood surfaces were beginning to sag. With a solid wooden structure, it was possible to sand away a hardened protective clear coat and reveal the blond wood beneath. To highlight it, a simple light stain brought out the beautiful variegated grain of this wood. Two new piece of glass were cut for the surfaces, and the wheels got a shiny coat of black paint. With ample storage space, this piece would work great as a swanky bar cart to hold glassware and liquor.

These almost matching wooden end tables have some lovely charm but were in need of a makeover. A layer of white chalk paint covered over the original wood followed by another layer of teal blue chalk paint. Then, moderate distressing allowed the white and wood to show through in various places, particularly along the tables' edges, for a shabby chic look. This pair would work well at both ends of a couch or as a set of nightstands in a bedroom.

This dresser is made from lightweight wood and started out with a few surface imperfections. After some wood filler and a good sanding, the piece was primed and painted. Classic black was chosen for the frame and drawers, and a geometric pattern was stenciled around each knob as an accent. On the smaller side, this dresser would work great as extra storage for linens in a bathroom or to hold craft supplies in an art room. 26" x 15" by 35" tall.

This little ottoman was bursting at the seams, when it was picked up to be upcycled. A grayed jade houndstooth patterned fabric was chosen to recover the piece, and piping was added around the edges. The detachable legs were painted a very slight two-tone of a light jade and cream. This ottoman would be great as a footrest for any occasional chair. 18" in diameter and 14" tall.

This armchair's original beige fabric was destroyed by an overzealous cat, and the piece was in need of completely new upholstery. A bold, multicolor large print floral fabric was chosen to re-cover the chair and give it a more modern look. Piping was also added along the back and bottom of the chair, and the arms and legs were painted cream to complement the new fabric. This armchair would be perfect as an accent in a living or family room.

A friend inspired me to transform a simple plain box into something special. Envisioning an unique jewelry box, it was painted a rich, vibrant red, and white floral stencils were added to the top lid for a decorative touch. A floral fabric covering a plush pillow was placed in the bottom lid creating a perfect resting place for bracelets, rings and necklaces. Two tiers of ribbon were strung across the upper lid to allow for the hanging of various earrings. As a bonus, the box can be closed with a little gold latch to keep everything safely inside.
